What do we know after 10 games?
Yeah, it is only 10 games in to the season and it is way too early to jump to conclusions but what the heck! Let’s do it anyway! Here are a few thoughts after the first couple weeks of the 2011 MLB season:
1. In the American League the division leaders are Baltimore, Cleveland, and Texas. I only expect 1 of those teams to keep the division lead throughout the season and I don’t think I even need to give you two guesses as to who it is. Cleveland and Baltimore have both started great but after another 10 games I would be very suprised if they are still leading their respective divisions. But both teams have very young rosters and should be pushing .500 this season or next.
2. Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and Colorado lead the National League divisions. The West is a total crapshoot but I don’t expect Colorado to win that one. Cincy and Philly both have very good chances to win their divisions though.
3. Before the season if I asked you who would have the worst record this year who would you have guessed? Seattle? Houston? KC? Well, those would have been my guesses but as of today the Boston Red Sox along with their big off season acquisitons of Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez are 2-9 and sitting in last place. We all know they won’t stay there but it is suprising they have a -32 run differential which is the highest in the league by 11 runs.
4. Manny is an idiot. I guess we have known that for a number of years but getting caught with PEDs again? Seems like if you get caught once you should know better but I guess not.
5. If I had to make a call today I would guess we would be looking at Texas vs either Cincy or Philly in the World Series. There are only 150+ games left for some other teams to change my mind.
